Judge Richard L. Banks Community Justice Program, Inc. is a non-profit, tax exempt Community Resource and Restorative Justice Organization.

Our Program addresses the issues faced by men returning home after long periods of incarceration and at risk youngsters incarcerated in D.Y.S. facilities.  We help meet their untended legal and social service needs.

The Program's mission today is that of Redemption, Rehabilitation, and Restorative Justice for individuals, families, and communities.  One of our many longstanding services has been to provide intervention and critical moment disposition to offenders whose substance abuse presents a major life crisis.  Our commitment to those in need remains unwavering throughout crucial moments in the total justice process.

What we do:

¨       We offer the courts alternatives to incarceration.

¨      We help returning ex offenders an opportunity to serve their community in positive, meaningful ways.

¨        We provide an array of legal and/or social services that meet the needs of the least served in our community.  We provide a comprehensive array of pro bono and affordable services, including but not limited to:

o        Legal counseling and representation

o        Substance abuse and treatment referrals

o        Adult and juvenile mentoring

o        Employment referrals

o        Housing referrals

o        Parole board support

o       Court letters

o       Court-approved community service opportunities

o       Speaking program for ex-offenders who desire to give back to their community in a meaningful way by becoming positive, involved role models for incarcerated and/or troubled youth and other transitioning ex-offenders

o       Institutional visitation

o       Guidance to create a comprehensive support network

¨      We demonstrate that substance abuse treatment and positive mentoring are viable alternatives to incarceration and the criminal processing of certain addicted individuals.

¨      We provide community residents with a program that is designed to turn potential criminal defendants into healthy, productive, law abiding members of society.
